Absolutely Awful

That is how I would describe me and this blog. I am terrible at writing, and keeping my thoughts and inspirations written down. How do I over come it? Not sure. Maybe it is the actual writing aspect of it. I was never a big fan of writing. English was pretty much my worst subject. And now here I am, trying to share my work and ideas....

So for 2011, I will write more in my blog! Better yet, I will actually create my own website using a blog!! How about that?! That way, I will be able to change all of my jewelry for sale ALL THE TIME. I am a bit tired of my website. Ready for a change. And that will be very soon as 2011 is exactly 24 days away....

Oh, and did I mention I am leaving Dubai? Huge. We are headed to California for the holidays. SUPER! After that, not quite sure. But that is okay....as long as I can stay in California while we figure it out, I am happy. Okay, TOTALLY EXCITED.

In the meantime, here are a few pieces I have just finished....enjoy.

Inspiration

The holidays are over. Kind of a bummer. But the weather is outstanding right now in Dubai so life could be much worse. Nice warm days and cool nights. Fantastic.

Now that we are home, I have been able to spend some time working on new ideas for jewelry. And my latest creation has been inspired by my little sister, Kristen. When I was home over the holidays, she spent quite a bit of time making friendship bracelets that I also remember making as a teenager. So I have taken her lead, and made some Friendship Bracelets out of satin and added silver charms to them. Mine are a bit different than hers but she gets all the credit for the latest to my collection.

Lots more colors to come - enjoy!

Thanksgiving is around the corner....

So Thanksgiving is almost here. And as an expat American, I will miss all the festivities back home. But we will do our best to make a great Thanksgiving Dinner here in Dubai.

And in honor of that holiday, I am running a promotion on my website. 20% all items bought between now and Thursday, November 26th. There are some great gifts to be found, check it out if you get a chance. wwww.lizrubidesigns.com

This week I am also working on more silver items for an event this Friday. I will be attending the Annual Irish Souk at Irish Village and it goes from 3-6pm. Should be a good time and hopefully I can sell some jewelry and have a pint at the same time. ;)

Now I am off to shower as I am attending the last day of the Dubai Golf World Championships here in town. I was there yesterday and it was a good time - should be even more exciting today with Westwood in the lead and the others to make a play for a win today!

Cufflinks

So I have finally gotten my act together and taken a few pics of the cufflinks I made last week. I sold 8 out of 12 pairs on Friday which is great! People seemed to really like them - especially the dichroic glass pairs as they are so unique. I plan on making more for December...and to all the men in my family, don't be surprised if you get a pair for Christmas. Smile.

'Tis the Season

It is only November 12th but I just purchased tickets for us to go to California for Christmas and so the holiday season is already here for us. Okay, maybe just me. But whatever.

Now in addition to going home for the holidays, I am also participating in some craft fairs around Dubai and the push for gifts has most definitely started. I am working hard to today to get some new cuff links ready for tomorrow. That is right - you read that correctly: cuff links. So now ladies, you can buy for your self and something for your husband too. Pretty excited about that. When I have the cuff links done, I will post a few pics.

Here is a list of events I am at in the next week or so:
* Friday, November 13th - ARTE Soukh at Times Square from 12-7pm
* Tuesday, November 17th - Ranches Ladies Craft Bazarr at Arabian Ranches Golf Course from 9:30am - 1pm
* Friday, December 4th - ARTE Fair at Festival City

I am thinking about a few other craft bazaars but we are pretty busy with some guests visiting and the Race to Dubai so we will see.

Also, I have added some earrings to my website which I think are pretty cool. My work is now starting to look more like a collection - you will see matching earrings, bracelets and necklaces. I am liking the feel of that and will continue upon that road.....

So there you have it. I need to go back to work...

Almost November 2009....

Can it really be October 26th? Really? Realllly?? So hard to be believe. But here we are and I am once again, writing a blog that I should have done when I got back from Paris. Like at the end of September.

Paris was amazing. Danielle and Adrian were super rad hosts. So much history in Paris it was hard for me not to love it. Plus the amazing wine and cheese just made the nights even better. I spent 5 hours at the Louvre and saw the Mona Lisa for just 1 minute. That was all she required with so many other fabulous pieces of art in the mega complex.

Got back from Paris and had 2 great Jewelry Markets when I got back. One at Festival City and the monthly ARTE Soukh at Times Square. I have had great feedback on my silver as well as the glass pendants I have been making so it is full steam ahead with new silver and glass designs. I have ordered a bunch of new glass and am gearing up for the next market on Saturday, November 7th at Wellington International School.

On a more personal note, the boys are great. Thomas is super busy at work, as always. Alexander has settled in Nursery and is loving it! And Sebastian, as ever, sits by my feet during the day, waiting for me to go on a walk with him or play fetch. That dog goes bananas for a tennis ball!

And speaking of tennis, I also decided today that I will start playing again! Anyone up for a game with a beginner (that is me!), give me a ring!

a few more pieces....

Just a few more pieces I just finished yesterday for this Friday...I am really loving the 4 Strands of Silver and Circles....my next generation of silver necklaces. ;)

And I probably need to be doing something else right now, but this actually seems like more fun.....
